Thank you for stopping by our blog. We are praying that each of you will find encouragement through our words. Today we continue in our prayer series with, “Praying for your online friends.”
I ask that you would take an extra moment at the end to fill out a short survey.
Praying For Our Online Friends
Over a year ago I tried to get rid of an auto-responder I was using on Twitter. Nothing I did would stop it. I was getting no responses, and did not want to waste anymore money. Since I could not get rid of the auto-responder I changed it to say, “Thank you for following me how can I pray for you?” Anyone who follows me on twitter will get this response. Now around 20% of the people respond and ask for prayer. Not all of the responses are positive but 99% are.
You can follow me here if you don’t already. I would love to pray for you.
Meeting New Friends
About six months ago I got a message from someone in the middle east asking how to be a Christian man. I have shared his story before here and here. I encourage you to read his amazing story if you have not already done so. Through this new twitter friend I have learned so much of how God can use social media for good. I have been given just a glimpse of what God can and will do if we are willing.
My new friend loves to join in online with our church’s prayer meetings and we pray for him. He is in a closed country and cannot share his faith with anyone else. His only two prayer request are to have a Bible and to see the inside of a church. We have not been able to talk or write in the past couple weeks. His only message has been, “The internet is not safe.” Please join me praying for my friend.
God has also crossed my path with a pastor in Pakistan, another in India, and two in Kenya. We are praying for each others ministries. I have social media friends in South Africa and Canada that send me messages of encouragement. I have another friend that prays for my son and I pray for her daughter for healing. I would never have imagined a year ago that God would use an auto-responder to grow His kingdom.
Using Social Media For Good
It breaks my heart, when I hear so much negativity towards social media. I get it, there are a lot of bad things that happen on it, but I am seeing the good, and I want everyone to be able to have that same experience. It may be that the only scripture a person will ever see is the one you posted. You never know when someone is really struggling and sees your post of encouragement. What are you offering to others through social media? Are you ranting and complaining adding to the negativity, or are you providing hope and love?
Please take a moment to fill out this short survey and share it with your friends.

How will God Use You
Ask God today who you should send a private message of encouragement to. Ask Him who to start a conversation with, or ask Him to connect you with someone who needs to hear the gospel message. You could also make a commitment to begin praying for a different social media friend each day. Whatever you do, I ask that you seek His will and allow Him to guide you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
