When Mountains Crumble
Rebuilding Your Life After Losing Someone You Love
I have only had a few times in my life where I experienced immense grief. When I lost my dad, months went by before I could function normally. I felt in a constant haze most of the time. Week after week, I yearned to feel normal.
As I have battled Lyme Disease, I have experienced many of the same feelings of loss. You can read about some of my pity parties here. Losing parts of yourself compares closely to losing a loved one.
I took part in the launch team for the new release, “When Mountains Crumble,” by Danita Jenae. I almost did not accept the offer because I was not currently experiencing grief and thought I would choose another book, but the Lord kept drawing me back.
Wow! I don’t know if it is right to say a book on grief is fabulous, but it is fabulous. I did not know how much unresolved pain I still held onto from losing my dad. Danita offers several exercises that draws the reader closer to God and she offers prayers for when you feel you have no words to pray.
I think the most astonishing thought in the book is when Danita says the reason loss hurts so much is that God did not design us to experience death. Mind blown. If you go back to Genesis, God designed us to live forever. Reading that statement made all the feelings of thinking I had lost my mind feel normal. That one statement was like God pouring His healing balm over me.

Share on XAnother beautiful quote that brought clarity from Danita, “The very symbol of the Christan faith is a symbol of suffering and persecution, yet we lash out when suffering invades our stories. We want to taste His goodness, but we’re surprised when the manna only falls in desert places. I never understood His sacrifice and bottomless love more acutely than in the moments when I shared in His suffering.”
Danita’s story of loss began when the mountain crumbled beneath her husband and she lost him in the devastating accident. I could share quote after quote, but then I would share the entire book. This book is perfect for anyone who has experienced a loss of any kind. “When Mountains Crumble” offers hope, healing, and freedom for the grieving heart.
